My Chest to the Sun

I am HUNGRY!

When I run in the am, I am hungry all day so that coupled with Weight Watchers which is essentially caloric restriction, I am really hungry.  Blugh.  At least tonight was sushi night with my love!

On the new WW plan, I only get 26 points...which is balls because I roughly eat a bajillion in one sitting.  Oh, that's why my jeans are tight? Ohhh ok. And it's weird trying to relearn the whole system again.  I was so successful on it in the past, that it kind of cheapens it now.  It's like retaking a CPR class when you were certified a few years ago, okay so yeah they have changed the number of compressions to breaths, but isn't it really generally the same: pump the heart-exhale in air, just like weight watchers: moderate your food and track it.

Weight Watchers, you can finagle your point system all you want make chicken X points on this plan and Y points on that plan and then give me Z points on who's plan?
Chicken is chicken, no matter how many points
are attached and fat on my ass is fat on my ass no matter how many times I check the mirror.

The point is this losing weight is hard, keeping up with plans is hard but I figure maybe if I pay for it....I will actually utilizing the tools they give me and make it work for me?  Misconception?  We will see I guess.

Goliath and I had a swell three miler this morning.  My Garmin is dead...like I think really dead this time.  So I just ran, and we both really enjoyed it.  Not just because we were running, but because we had the freedom and circumstance to....ahhh, thank you winter break.

Now my shin splints are flarin'  so onto the next ouchie right?  It was REALLY cold,  my whole body was RED when I got home but so worth it.

Want to Escape

Weather sucks.

Except if it rocks.

Think about it.

I really love running...but only outside. The dreadmill is literally the last place you will find me.  I would rather get a cavity filled, or eat cod liver or some other terrible task.  Honestly, if it came down to the final challenge on Fear Factor was to run on the treadmill for an hour, I would lose out on a large sum of money.

Unfortunately for me, according to my training timeline I should run at or about 3 miles today and it's freezing-sleeting rain.  Even Goliath doesn't want to be outside, so I did not have much of a choice.  30 minutes of the TM is probably my max.  I don't know what it is, I don't know what speed to run at, I don't like not being able to pace myself and the fact that if I want to speed up or slow down I have to press a button and then there's the whole lot of variables the gym throws in like: the millions of things overloading my senses like body odor, perfumes, muscles at every angle, millions of televisions, music.

Running at the gym is just not my bag.  Running is my zen, it brings me inner peace and running there on a the TM gives me anxiety and phobias and probably a staph infection.

Anyway, I begrudgingly pumped out three miles at a whacko pace which turned out to be more like an interval work out.  Seriously, is the TM in kilometers or miles?  How fast am I going at 8.5? Why is it so hard to just put UNITS on the freaking thing?? seriously...come on...

I had a nice refreshing garden salad after and now here I am updating you on my loathing of the dreadmill.

Food Today Not Pictured:  Coffee, Greek yogurt with strawberries, grapes, grilled chicken breast on the bone, green bean casserole, brownie x 2, salad

Shake That

Howdy Folks! Happy Tempo Thursday!

I am ashamed that in my first week of goal getting, I got sidetracked with the books. Anyway, prolonging the start if book three allowed me to return to normal life. I got some laundry done, cleaned, made some cupcakes, did some homework. Oh, what? Yeah I made some cupcakes.
Dark chocolate-Cherry Cupcakes, totally organic and sweetened with apple sauce. Sorry, recipe is top secret. Made for my work spouse.

G-Bonez and I set out for a brief tempo this afternoon. At first, I felt kinda sluggish. I am focusing in my posture during runs, and I am realizing that my poor posture has totally changed my lung capacity and my breathing patterns.

Along the way, we ran into either a stray or a runaway. The pup ran across a busy street as we approached, and due to our hstory it literally made my heart stop. Which made running up the hill. One of the most gorgeous dogs ever though. She ran with us for a while, and I desperately hoped she would stick with us so we could find her home, but after a while she bolted in the opposite direction as if she knew where she was going.
I have convinced myself she went home, otherwise the alternative would absolutely consume me.
Can't save them all right? The stronghold dogs have over me is crippling.

That is a wicked stretch for your outer calves by the way, try it. Ouchies.

What kind of cupcake do you favor?
What are you working on during your runs?
Have you ever found a stray or a runaway dog? What did you do?

The Same Imaginary Place

Crazy right?? We are pretty fortunate it wasn't on our roof.

I ran 3 miles at 5am and swam 750 yard at 5pm.
wooooeeeee.

I am posting from my phone, technology is crazy.

Tell Me the World Ain't Mine

Are you ready for MEGA MID WEEK PHOTO-THON!?! I don't know why, but I've got a lot of bases to cover today so brace yourself and get your scroll finger ready, here's to hoping your reader doesn't freeze.

Last evening after an additional two miles, I came home to Goliath nestled in our bed. No surprise. He has a nasty habit though, he likes to eat bed skirts and sheets. Unfortunately for the Bosky Family his tastes have matured to comforters. Now this surely will break the bank. Buying a new fitted sheet every so often is really no skin off my teeth, but I absolutely can not replace the habit with comforters. Even if they are cheapo Target comforters. My guess is he figured out that the blanket was stuffed with his favorite batting, and it simulates disemboweling an animal and you know the rest.

Who doesn't want a hole in their comforter? Seriously.

Regardless of the motive, it also tells me that even after a six mile run he wasn't completely worn out. The joys of a working breed. This looming thought left me worried about our brief jaunt this afternoon. BUT I promised myself that I would take the shorter runs more seriously, so two miles it was and two miles only. There's a reason the schedule has a two mile run, and not "at least two miles" on it. Tacking mileage on to scheduled runs is a bad habit of mine, and is the most likely culprit of my over training.

Our trail is half a mile away, so by the time we get there on two mile days we only get about eight minutes on it. That's such a shame is it not? Our favorite place in the whole-wide-world, and we only get eight minutes? We know we'll be back tomorrow so our whining is really so pointless. The turn around came quick enough, we were both feeling it. My lactate threshold peaked pretty quickly, and Goliath was panting pretty heavily. At one point, I had a mini heart attack because I thought he had gotten off his leash but when I looked down he was trotting with me completely in sync. Maybe he'll make that a habit too? Slack in the lead, how cool!

That's his "HUH?" face

Remember how I said I would NOT tack on mileage? Well I lied, but maybe you'll forgive me and understand. I ran exactly two miles, no more no less. When we arrived home, and synced our run onto Nike+ it showed us that we were less than a mile away from achieving a new status. GREEN! So we went back out and looped around the block a few times, is that cheating nike? Maybe. So now since we bought that sport kit in January, Goliath and I have logged over 250 kilometers. Pretty nifty.

I always feel like ultracool training in a race shirt

Is it odd that I crave protein bars? Is there an addictive substance in them? Like Cocaine Power Protein Plus Bars? As clean as my diet is, protein bars and supplements are my one exception to the rule. I've toyed around with a few but, I always go back to one. This morning I gave the Kashi variety a try:

...and honestly? Not a fan. I thought I was going to be all YAY NATURAL PROTEIN BAR YAY! But no. It was really small, didn't satiate me and was kind of dry. Now I know protein bars aren't like some dietary excellence but as far as they go, this was blugh. My favorite?

The only real problem is that I can eat like six or hundred in a day. Not to mention there's nearly twice the amount of protein than the Kashi bar, with the same calories. Sorry natural diet, PowerBar wins.

I have never been the type of person to count calories, and that's why Weight Watchers has been so successful in helping me get to goal. Now that I am so close, it was suggested to me to count calories in addition to points. It's quite the feat, but I downloaded another food tracking application for my iPhone. Tracking points is second nature, so it's calorie cousin hasn't been too difficult. The funny thing is, as educated as I am in food choices I still get surprised by the amount of calories in things. Today, for instance, I added my broccoli and was shocked to see that it had ACTUAL calories. BUT broccoli is ZERO. Don't be fooled, I KNOW everything has calories but you forget sometimes ya know?

Have you guys met Sally yet? Sally is a whoodle who lives at my place of work. She's an awesome dog, and hypoallergenic too!
