Like a Shadow

Have I ever told you how much I love the weekend?

I don't know what happened, but I have gone from having the busiest weekends ever to the most laid back care free weekends.  It definitely helps not having to work every weekend.  I love have time to get organized, relax and enjoy just being.  I am one of those people who ALWAYS has to be doing something, working, laundry, cooking, hanging out with people...something.  Logan and Goliath have really helped me to realize that part of enjoying life, is just enjoying not.  Taking the time to decompress and not think or do.  It feels good.

SATURDAY was a glorious day.  The weather was a marvelous 70 degree day.  The Urbans took to the dog park and then Chipotle.  I had a shameless chicken bol with everything my little heart desired, including guacamole.  I figured my intense cardio work out from earlier earned that extra calories.

The night was FREEZING.  By midnight, it was 31 degrees while I sat by a bonfire and enjoyed the company of my friends who I adore.
SUNDAY even better.  Woke up and dig a personal yoga routine and some minor strength and ab training before I met SwellMary at the gym.  We were suppose to go to Spin but there weren't enough bikes and there were some snobby ladies, so I just left and we did our own bike  hill work out. The remainder of my day was leisurely laying around with Goliath, baking and preparing my meals for the week (I LOVE HAVING TIME TO DO THAT!!) and then a family dinner.  Brussel sprouts!

This next week is going to be fabulous.

Have A Real Good Time

We have a house guest!
Our good friend Tanner is staying with us for about a week.

Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been cooperating for our full week of fun and activity. So most of it was spent this way...

Until today!! After my MRI this morning, I took the pups to the pup park. Which is always funny. Today not only were there dogs bickering but old married couples bickering. Hilarious.

My MRI will be read on Monday so let's hope for good news! Now I am off to a night full of an extra hour!

OH! And y'all I am on daily mile now, thought it was an easier way to track my training! I have a little widget on here now and add me as a friend!

How was your Saturday?
Does your pup have friends?
What was your last workout?

Thistle & Weeds

Howdy y'all!

I am feeling much better after one of the worst stomach viruses ever, it has literally taken me a week to feel normal.

It started Monday, and I forced myself to get back to school and work Thursday. Yesterday, I felt like myself and this morning I finally ran.

Yesterday, was a good day with G-Bonez. I always feel so guilty when I can't get him out of the house like I should, so I rewarded him a long trip to the dog beach...like I do every Saturday. So the usual.

Can I just say I can't stand the people who go the dog park and then complain about other people's dogs when they act like a dog. Every single time there is always some bitter Betty or poopy Peter who talks mad smack and makes a scene. Por ejemplo, yesterday there was a big German shopherd who was bery emphatic abou a stick. He would walk up to people with the stick in his mouth, over and over and over people kept reaching for the stick out of his mouth and he would subsequuently snap at them. He broke the skin on two people. One of which, made a giant scene and confronted the owner. The owner just apologized, but when that wasn't good enough the bitter bitten Betty made a slanderous scene. Here's a tip, for EVERYONE not just infrequent dog park goers, not just for people who don't know much about dogs, for EVERYONE:
DO NOT REACH FOR OBJECTS IN A FOREIGN DOG'S MOUTH.

I have never been bit at the dog park, wanna know why? I don't try to steal from dogs I am not friends with.

Have you ever seen people make scenes at dog parks?
What was it about?
Ever been bit by a dog?

Get Along Just Fine

This mortal form has grown weak. I need sustenance.

Uhmm, so get this: Work is putting on a Biggest Loser. Y'all know I'm competitive right?? I intentionally indulged over the weekend to boost my initial weigh in. I was able to weigh in a whopping 10 lbs heavier. Thankfully, my head is screwed on tight and know full well it was bloat...and intentional. Am I evil?? How'd I do it?

Well I started with breakfast....
Don't look so happy Logan...
Then had happy hour at sonic...
Then grilled out with friends and stuffed my face with s'mores...

Don't worry though, Goliath at least got exercise at the dog park. With all our best dogie friends.

Chicago is in FOUR days!!!! Barf!

Have you seen Thor?
Ever done a buggestbloser competition?
What will you be doing in 4 days?

You and Tequila Make me Crazy

I don't feel so good.

Nausea just hit me like a ton of bricks, maybe it was the mustard-pickle-jalapeño-turkey wrap I made....maybe my blood sugar is dropping?? I dunno. I got all stoked to update y'all and boom! Grossness.

So I maintained radio silence since Friday because how crazy work has been. Friday turned out to be excellent. Margaritas and Mexican food with friends.

Saturday, was a rest day for me and I took Goliath to the dog park. We played. We swam. Well, he swam. It was hot.

I worked that night, which kept me tame so I could get up for my long run on Sunday. Which was disastrous when there are two accidents on the highway, a 5k on the trail you want to run and half of it is closed due to construction.

They literally blew up the trail. Awesome. I got my miles and am feeling it today.

So I know you are dying to know how the week panned out for my weight loss goals!

Start Weight: 152.6
Week One: 148.6

Woot! Prob just water weight, but I can deal!

OOOH and I finished the Hunger Games series. FINALLY. So good. Read it,

Gone Like Yesterday

I take that back, Saturday you are the best.

Even though I didn't get much sleep last night, I woke up and my first thought was: FOOD. Shocker! So I zombied myself to the fridge, and maybe it was the sleep stupor or maybe it was subliminal messsages, but some healty inspiration hit me. So instead of making my usual Saturday Pancakes, I went for a protein packed spicy-yumyum omelet.

Jalapenos. Cheese. Sour cream. Salsa verde. Heavenly.

It really hit the spot while I watched Saturday morning cartoons.

While cleaning up my mess, I had another burst of healthy inspiration. I am going to challenge myself to eat ALL the produce in my fridge. I hate admitting this, but I am wicked bad about purchasing fruits and veggies, ignoring them, letting them rot and ultimately tossing them. These are my confessions, please don't hate me. Maybe just buying them makes me feel healthier? Whatever the reason, it needs to stop. This week, I am making an honest effort to eat more fruit and vegetables. So strawberries were added to breakfast, and then I had a giant salad that finished off some romaine lettuce, a tomato, onion and banana peppers.

My strength is slowly coming back, so I convinced Logan that I could go to the dog park so at least Goliath could get some exercise. The weather in KC has been nothing short of an oven recently, but today it is gorgeous and bearably warm.

Do you have any iPad App recommendations?
What is your favorite fruit? Veggie?
Do you ever throw away food?

Look at my Socks

What What! Finals are dizzone.

Thanks for the well wishes, I passed!

I have been doing my fair share of celebrating, ala Warrior Dash and if you guys know me: food.

Goliath has had his fair share of stress with me being swamped, which means less exercise for not just me but him.   Maybe my puppy is just getting older, which totally breaks my heart, but I can see him getting worn out faster.  He's not able to tirelessly play and run at the dog park for hours anymore.  Maybe it's the heat?  I just can't help but feel a little guilty because I have no been running as much with him as when this blog was a newborn baby blog.

I rewarded Goliath with a trip to the dog beach on Sunday.  It was a gorgeous night, and just being there-knowing in the back of my head I didn't have any pesky school work to do and I was finally caught up on stuff at home, I was peaceful.  Something I very rarely feel.

There is a constant storm in my head, running through to do lists and priortizing things just to stay afloat

But on Sunday night, it was clear.  I was laughing at Goliath, and his carefree attitude.
Goodness, I love my dog.

Put Your Foot in My Nikes

Last night was beautiful. Beautiful. After a long week, I was really looking forward to a night with the dog. The hubs had plans with his little brother, so it was just GoGo and me. We lounged around, snacked on some apples and peanut butter and ultimately wound up at the dog park. A weekend ritual that is seemingly unavoidable. Goliath's girlfriend Sarai (a boxer-mix) was there, along with his boxer pal Mishka. Another boxer showed up, 9 month old Archie. The four of them created the ultimate-boxer-club, and I'm pretty sure they thought they owned the park. That is until a Malamute named Seneca wanted in on the fun. Unfortunately, the OP Boxer club was much faster and Seneca was always late to the party. Doggy separatism aside, I had a good time with my fellow-furparents. It's pretty funny the people you meet just by forced interaction.

No surprise here: I overslept this morning, and didn't get start on training until close to 11. There's some Fourt of July festivities being set-up on my trail, yes I said it MY trail. So we took a right turn over a bridge to explore part of the trail we'd never explored. Much to our dismay, after 0.3 mile it lead to a deadend on a street. No wonder we'd never gone down that way. After two miles, we took a hiatus in the fountain. Today, it was hot enough that I got in. Say what you want, I was a kid this afternoon. Goliath was ecstatic to have me in the water with him. Several people joined us, and played with G too.

Both soaking wet, we finished the run. Happily. I like to think it was obvious we had been playing in water, but I think the looks we got means that people assumed I was just really sweaty.

This picture courtesy of Patty K. who took this and emailed it!

I burned 497 calories on the run, so what better way to replenish the deficit? FROZEN CUSTARD! The Bosky Family piled in our car, and ventured to Sheridan's for some delish custard. We particularly love this place because they serve complimentary doggie cones. Too bad a doggie cone doesn't suffice for this Goliath-sized sugar tooth.
